Ana Fabíola Maurício is a Ph.D. fellow of the Culture Studies programme of The Lisbon Consortium (School of Human Sciences of the Catholic University of Portugal) and of the Literary and Cultural Studies programme of the Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (Justus-Liebig Universität, Giessen, Germany). Within the framework of this cotutelle Ph.D., financed by a Ph.D. scholarship awarded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, she is writing a dissertation that seeks to analyse the 30 years of existence of the Modern Art Centre of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and discuss its role in the (re)shaping of Lisbon’s culturalscape.

Junior researcher at CECC since 2010, her main field of research focuses on modern and contemporary art museums and their contribution for the development of the cultural panorama of urban societies. She finished her M.A. degree in Media Studies, specialising in Cultural Management and Communication (School of Human Sciences of the Catholic University of Portugal), in 2010 with a thesis that explored the role of art and history museums’ education departments before the public. In 2007 she finished her pre-Bologna B.A. degree in Applied Foreign Languages (English-French).

She has participated and presented papers in multiple national and international conferences, symposia and colloquia since 2009, having worked in the organisation of several academic programmes and events for the Research Centre for Communication and Culture as well as for The Lisbon Consortium. Between 2008 and 2009 she worked as an intern, having developed and implemented her won project, for the education department of history and art museums in Lisbon.
